MORE THAN WORDS

May 13th 2012

I signed up for a writing course (a birthday treat from Pete) and over the past three weeks it’s made me mull over the importance of words.

STATING THE OBVIOUS

May 6th 2012

A child’s ability to state the obvious is refreshingly honest and fun. I pride myself on being honest and I admit it sometimes I’m a little tactless, although I don’t intend to offend. Children however, it seems, can be as offensive as they want – but we don’t half find it charming!.... Despite it frequently being cringe worthy!

ATTACK OF THE GIANT ORANGE SPACE HOPPER AND OTHER STORIES

April 29th 2012

There I am going about my business, minding my own, and it seems trouble/chaos/misdemeanour seeks me out and bites me on the ass/punches me in the face/pulls the rug from under me (select as appropriate). This week has been challenging from the outset. There have been tears, tantrums, awkward silences and death defying stunts. Never a dull moment!

MRS FROSTY

April 22nd 2012

I’ve bristled through this week, and definitely need to thaw a little. It’s been a horror. Wet, windy, cold and morose .... with tough times with my little man to boot (see my previous blog). For a girl who’s solar powered that doesn’t bode well and it’s about time that sunshine and equally sunny disposition returned!

Afterthoughts and Hysteria

April 15th 2012

My life pretty much sways between the ridiculous and the sublime, of this I am very much aware. I'm trying to be serious and thoughtful ... but after having just watched Marley & Me (yes, I know, I don't know what I was thinking) and I'm now snuggling Tetley on the sofa with tears streaming down my face. Deep breath and focus ....

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST

April 8th 2012

I feel like the ‘Eye of the Tiger’ (Rocky theme tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgSMxY6asoE) is playing on loop in the background because it’s been a challenging week this week. There have been accidents aplenty, breakages, spillages and sickness. My nerves are frayed, my head is aching and every muscle and bone in my body is racked with exhaustion. If I can just survive next week I’ll have made it! It’s so hard to survive with my little lot when I’m performing under par!

FEELING FOOLISH?

April 1st 2012

Huzzah – I survived this week... though after my DH’s drunken performance last night he very nearly didn’t. I can’t tell you how frustratingly, irritatingly, slurringly unattractive it is – especially when I was stone cold sober. I could only bite my lip for so long before he got it full throttle. Sorry DH, I know you’ve had a stressful week (*me too*) – but grrrrrr¬!

POSITIVELY PETULANT

March 25th 2012

In a week of pressure and press-ganging in almost every sense of the word; cajoling the kids, coercing the hubby and forcing my own hand and dragging my sorry ass into normality (with lots of groaning and persistence), I've learnt a few valuable lessons. I’ve promised to let my guard down once in a while, to stop along the way and smell the roses and that laughter is most definitely the best medicine, of which there’s often not nearly enough.

KEEPING MUM

March 18th 2012

After a rollercoaster week of highs, lows and the occasional bloodbath ... it was more than nice to take the weight off a little today (big THANKS to Pete who held the fort at home) whilst I ran off to Harrogate for a couple of hours of R&R with my Mummy – which really was bliss.
